We all have our quirks and habits that seem normal to us and might strike someone else as weird or eccentric. After all, there are over seven billion people populating the planet, and we all have a different language, culture, and, well, our own little quirks. It might be a cultural or a social habit, but everywhere around the world, people have different quirks that characterize them. For example, in India, people raise their pinky in order to indicate they need to be excused – it’s a national signal that everyone’s familiar with. In Greece, taking a doggy bag from a restaurant is considered rude – while here in the U.S., we do it all the time. What’s the biggest quirky habit where you come from? Share it with us!
Raise Your Pinky
You read that right; a person from India started a chain on the social network Reddit about national peculiarities and started with a pretty curious one from his own country. According to him, if a person wants to go to the bathroom in India, all they have to do is raise their pinkies, and everyone will understand they need to be excused to the bathroom.
Imagine you need to go to the bathroom when you’re in school or a crowded place – you don’t need to talk or raise your hand to report your needs, you can just lift your little finger and excuse yourself to the bathroom. No muss, no fuss, simple as that. Raise them pinkies! We might adopt this habit.
