How You Doin’?
This isn’t much of a cultural tradition, but a personal quirk. It might be more prevalent in some places – as this Reddit user points out, they often do it in the UK – but it’s really a personal thing. We all know a person who does this, don’t we? Saying “what’s up” or “how you doing” as a way of saying hello, not really looking for a response.
Some people just start a conversation with a question such as “you alright?” but don’t actually care about your response. This is just their way of saying hello and coming off as polite. I must agree with this Reddit user – I hate it when people do that. Of course, this is their way of being friendly and polite.
