Tea Traditions of China
In China, tea is much more than just a drink. If you want to show respect to the elderly, you offer them tea, and if you want to apologize to someone, you also serve a cup of tea. If you want to thank someone for the tea, you can say thank you, nod your head, or tap the table very lightly after serving.
If it’s too loud around, you can thank someone for filling your cup of tea by lightly tapping on the table. So, this is another way of expressing your feelings and communicating with others. Although, we can’t imagine we’d ever need different codes to thank people for different things. Simply saying “thank you” is so much easier.
