What You’re Waving For?
That’s something we’ve never heard of before, and it’s definitely a unique habit. In the Netherlands, if you want to say that someone is intelligent or stupid you will put your hands on your head and touch your temple or the middle of your forehead respectively to imply the qualities. I mean, when would that even come in handy?
But wait, that’s not all. You can also praise delicious food using your hands; make a gesture of greeting towards your cheeks and you will be indicating that your food is “lekker” – which means is delicious. In the U.S., we either make “yummy” noises or simply say that it’s delicious.
