Shake Your Head
There are certain worldwide gestures that allow us to communicate without words, that we can employ when traveling abroad. In India and Pakistan, however, there’s a certain peculiar head movement that’s cultural for them alone. This head movement can mean different things such as “yes”, “no ”or “I understand” – it all depends on the context of the situation, and they use this sign quite often.
This way of communicating with your head is normal in India but not so much in the rest of the world, so it has been parodied many times in the West, since it’s difficult for us to understand the meaning of the head shake in each situation. People have a habit of mocking what they don’t know, and what they don’t understand.
