Swedish Christmas Traditions
Every country, and every family, has its own Christmas traditions. In the U.K., they might watch a special message or speech from the Queen. Here in the U.S., we watch Christmas movies, such as Home Alone, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and The Grinch. In Sweden, they have a very unique tradition.
As it turns out, on Christmas Eve, people around the country all tune in to watch a Donald Duck Christmas special from 1958, accompanied by a live host. In terms of percentage, this Christmas special is more popular in Sweden than the Super Bowl is in the U.S! They also invented a Waffle Day completely by accident, and it all started with an honest mispronunciation. Sweden is becoming more and more appealing to us!
