Mom and Dad?
The Republic of Georgia lies between Europe and Asia, where they speak Gregorian with different dialects around the country. One thing that doesn’t change among its inhabitants is the use of the words “mama” and “deda”, which mean “father” and “mother” respectively. No, we did not get the order wrong.
Language is a fascinating thing, isn’t it? In Georgia, the word “mama” refers to dad, and the word “deda” refers to mom. In the U.S., and other parts of the world, it’s the other way around – “mama” is the word for mother, while “dad” is the word we use for father. Who’s got it backward? No one, probably. To each their own language.
