Some people wash their clothes too often, others not often enough. Whichever team you’re on, you may be on the wrong track. Some items need cleaning much less frequently than we’ve been told and the other way around. It can get pretty confusing! We often don’t know how to treat our personal items or clothes and end up living with germs or ruining our precious belongings. So, we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide for how often everyday objects may or may not need scrubbing.
#1: Jeans Day
Certain clothing must be washed every time you wear it (we’re looking at you, underwear!). Jeans, however, are not one of those items that need to be tossed into the washer on a daily basis. For one thing, they’re pants, which don’t tend to get dirty as quickly as other clothing items.
For another, they are thick and hard-wearing materials, so they don’t absorb dirt as quickly as other fabrics. Washing them too frequently will cause them to fade sooner and stress the material more rapidly. That’s why you only need to wash your denim about once every six weeks. If they start to stink before they are dirty, you can put them in the freezer overnight to remove the odor.
