Most of us take for granted the technology we have grown accustomed to using every day. While we currently have phones that fit in the palm of our hands and custom music lists on all our smart devices, technology wasn’t always so simple and accessible. Back in the day, we had to wait for the internet to “dial up” and we couldn’t connect with family and friends in an instant. All the technology we use today started off in a much simpler and basic form. How many of these now obsolete tech products do you remember using? How many are you glad faded away and how many of them do you wish would make a comeback?
#1: Phone Booths
Before cell phones were in the hands of every human being alive, people relied on corded phones to communicate with others at home and in public. This meant you couldn’t just pick up a phone while on the road or in the parking lot of your local grocery store.
If you had to speak with someone and it couldn’t wait until you got home, you would have to stop at the good ol’ payphone. These phones put that spare change to good use, requiring a quarter to connect you. Even if you made a call every day, it was still cheaper than phone plans now.
