Okay, admit it; there was a time when you were not cool unless you had a pager. Pagers are the OG texting gadgets that everyone had to have, not just doctors. Nothing made people feel more important in the late 90s and early 2000s than shouting out, “Oh, I got a page.”

Whether it was your friends beeping you or your parents, you still felt pretty special hearing that alert going off from your hip. The downside to these devices came when you had to find a phone to call the person reaching out back and the panic that sank in while trying to figure out what they wanted.
