Testing Eggs for Freshness
There’s no way to determine whether or not an egg is fresh without cracking open. So, if you’re preparing a dozen eggs to scramble for breakfast, what do you do with the bunch if the twelfth and final egg is rotten? Toss out the whole bowl? Unfortunately, that’s your only option.
Or you could subject your eggs to the freshness test. To test eggs for freshness, gently place them in a tall bowl or glass of water. Eggs that sink to the bottom are fresh, and those that float to the surface are rotten. Anything that floats but doesn’t surface is on the verge of expiration.
