Peeling Garlic with a Smash
There are several ways to remove garlic paper from garlic cloves. You can use the chump method, which is to slice the root part of the garlic clove and manually peel off the paper. Or you could place the garlic cloves in a jar and shake vigorously until the paper falls off.
What we recommend doing is taking your garlic cloves and gently smashing them with the side of a chef’s knife. This method will crush the garlic, but it’ll also make releasing the paper a lot easier. If the recipe doesn’t call for whole garlic cloves, use the smash method. If you need whole garlic cloves, invest in a reliable mason jar.
