#6: All At Once
Many people with ADHD share that they often feel the uncontrollable urge to get all their words out all at once. People with ADHD tend to form and organize their thoughts while in the process of speaking, instead of doing it before they speak. This can result in combining words, speaking very fast, and sometimes having trouble communicating.
This person shared that they often combine words when they speak because 20 different thoughts are going on in their brain at the same time. Focusing on getting one coherent sentence out can be difficult! There are self-monitoring exercises that people can practice if they want to work on their communication skills. In some cases, speech therapy can be beneficial.
