#16: Object Forgetfulness
This person brought up a topic that is kind of a touchy subject in the ADHD sphere. They shared that if a person doesn’t interact with them on a daily basis, they cease to exist in their brain. This person explained this feeling as a form of object or person permanence. Basically, it’s the concept of “out of sight, out of mind.”
According to medical professionals, object permanence being a symptom of ADHD is yet unproven. However, the experiences of people with ADHD exist and are valid. Many people have trouble maintaining relationships with people they don’t always interact with. This could be a form of ADHD forgetfulness mixed with time blindness. Whatever the root cause, a lot of people have trouble remembering to maintain their relationships in a timely manner.
