#13: Caffeine Overload
Most of us can’t start our day without a ceremonial cup of coffee or tea. We need that caffeine boost to get going! However, caffeine can have mixed results for neurotypical people. While all anecdotal, some people say coffee helps them while others say that it negatively affects their ADHD.
For some people, they feel that caffeine helps them concentrate, get in the zone, and feel calm. For others, it has the opposite effect. Since caffeine is a stimulant, it makes sense that it can make some neurotypical people feel the opposite of calm. Also, caffeine can sometimes interfere with ADHD medication. Everyone is different, so if someone doesn’t feel good when they drink coffee, they shouldn’t feel like they have to drink it.
