#7: Sprechen Sie Deutsch?
It’s well-known that English (or American, as some dear souls claim) is overwhelmingly spoken in the United States, but did you know that it actually isn’t the country’s official language? You might be surprised to know that there is no official language for the country, which we think is kind of poetic and reflects how diverse and accepting America can be.
Many of the languages spoken after English or Spanish are widely used across the world thanks to European settlers, but it’s interesting to see the distribution. We can’t help but notice Michigan’s high Arabic-speaking population, though, which piques our interest. In any case, we’re glad that some native languages like Navajo and Dakota are still going strong in some states.
