#47: The Bigger, The Better
For whatever reason, Americans love to compare the size of their home state with the size of the United Kingdom. Sadly, most maps and globes are distorted in some form, so simply looking at the two side by side doesn’t accurately reflect their respective sizes.

Despite claims from others, just 11 of the 50 states (over 20 percent) are bigger than the UK. Michigan’s bigger than the UK is a fun trivia tidbit we would love to use since its divided land mass makes it look smaller. Another great trivia fact is that if California were its own country, it would have the fifth-largest economy in the world.
