#21: Insurance Isn’t Cheap
It seems pretty unremarkable really, that processing insurance claims costs the insurance company money. I’m unfamiliar with the minutiae of the financial breakdown, but there must be, at the very least, employee salaries and logistical costs factored into that sum. This is all the more reason why insurance companies don’t want to pay us out. Their business model relies on it.
Having said that, remarking on the insurance companies’ processing costs is like remarking on the fact that a restaurant has costs before the customer has ordered a dish. The overall cost of restaurant management and labor are way higher than simply the food they put on the table. Maybe that’s why yesterday’s salad cost $26?!
