#17: Humpty Dumpty, the Human or the Egg?
This is even wilder than the previous one. Ask anyone my age, and they’ll tell you that Humpty Dumpty is, most certainly, one hundred percent an egg. If he’s not an egg, the nursery rhyme proves to be way more shocking, graphic, and alarming than I had ever thought. Is Humpty a human who “couldn’t be put back together again”?
It seems the true identity of Humpty Dumpty has never been clear. However, from a quick bit of research, it seems that Humpty has been widely accepted as an egg, at least since the 1870s, which I find quite relieving. So, I’m going to keep imagining a broken anthropomorphized egg rather than a poor, broken person.
