#4: The Power of Positivity
My mother-in-law has a horrible habit of calling herself stupid. It’s so bad, in fact, that her therapist made her write “I am not stupid” on her iPhone case. That didn’t work, but maybe this will? Anything has to be better than stupid or idiot, right? I’ll just get her a t-shirt.
It’s tough to break the habit of calling yourself or a situation something negative when things go wrong, but changing it to something a bit more positive is entirely possible. If you feel silly saying silly, try “foolish,” “absurd,” or even “kooky”! It doesn’t matter what word you choose so long as you aren’t constantly berating yourself.
