Don’t Break Down in Tears
One person shared that they have a blood disorder called acidosis that causes them to produce highly acidic tears. When they cry, the acid can cause their face to swell and break out in hives. They explained that a few tears wouldn’t really bother them, but if they ever have to ugly cry, they need to prep with antihistamines or cold compresses.
Acidosis definitely sounds like a challenging condition to live with. We are not qualified to give medical advice, but according to the National Kidney Foundation, metabolic acidosis is a build-up of acid in the bloodstream. Bicarbonate levels in our blood balance out the acid. A variety of factors can cause it, and there are treatments available.
