A Weird Sensitivity
This person shared a weirdly rare reflex that he has whenever he sticks a Q-tip in his left ear. He has been diagnosed with Arnold’s nerve reflex, which triggers a cough when the external auditory canal is stimulated. That’s why he always feels the need to cough and gag when he cleans his left ear!
Apparently, this reflex is found in only 2-3% of studied patients, so it’s rare. The original poster described the feeling as an uncontrollable need to gag and cough. This doesn’t sound fun, so we’re guessing he doesn’t clean his left ear much. We shouldn’t be sticking Q-tips in our ears anyways, right?
