It is just human nature that if there is a possible way to make money off something, somebody is going to monetize it. Whether it’s a service, a medication, or a product, you better believe that if someone can get you to pay money for it, they will.

I wouldn’t really call it an invention, though, as I think it’s been around as long as humans have been. We’ve gotten more creative in our attempts to make money, but our distant ancestors were out there selling livestock and smithing and applying leeches to rebalance the humors, just like us.
