Styrofoam was invented during WWII when a new material was needed to fight the shortage of rubber. Originally, it was supposed to serve as a flexible insulator for buildings, tunnels, and infrastructure, but as we know today, it has many other uses that are less than pertinent.

Today, it’s commonly used for takeaway foods and other packaging needs, and it’s become way too common. As you can guess, styrofoam is pretty bad for the environment, not to mention it makes a lot of mess when used for packaging purposes.
