#23: The First Electric Blender
This retro blender probably brings milkshakes and diners to mind. The slim glass shape is reminiscent of a simpler time. You wouldn’t be too far off with that nostalgic feeling. The original electric blender was invented in 1922 specifically to make malts and shakes at soda fountain establishments.
Interestingly, Stephen J. Poplawski was the inventor of the electric blender and didn’t get a patent until 1932. This patent was a little different because it was for a blender that could reduce fruits and veggies into a smoothie-like consistency. So, we can credit the birth of the green smoothie to Poplawski, all the way back in the 1930s.
