If you have apps that are constantly running in the background, it would seem as if it makes sense to shut them all down to save battery life. After all, using no battery vs. using some battery seems like a simple math equation, doesn’t it? But it doesn’t quite work that way.

Yes, apps running in the background take up a bit of your battery juice, but regularly closing and reopening apps takes up more battery life. We know it seems completely counterintuitive, but it’s true. It takes a lot of effort to completely restart an app rather than simply wake it up from a nap. So, if you use specific apps consistently, keep them open in the background.
