#9: Smoke Break
Nobody has a worse opinion of smoking than I do, but even I was surprised by the claim in this next post. So I looked it up, and it turns out a 2009 study really did conclude that smoking had killed 100 million people worldwide over the course of the 20th century.
The World Health Organization says smoking kills 8 million people a year, including 1.3 million from secondhand smoke, and that tobacco kills half of its users who don’t quit. It costs a huge amount of money—both in terms of purchasing cigarettes and health care—plus it makes you smell bad. Maybe it’s time for everyone to get a less dangerous, expensive, and smelly hobby.
