Incredible Child Actor
When young Johnny Crawford stepped onto the set of The Rifleman, he was greeted by a sea of experienced adult actors. You might expect such a situation to be overwhelming for a child actor, but not Johnny. He found an uncanny ability to connect with his more seasoned co-stars.
Reflecting on his time on the show, he shared, “I had been wanting to do a series for a long time, especially a western, so I was just in heaven from the beginning, and I thought I was extremely lucky. The only adjustment that was necessary really was getting to learn everybody’s name. I had a great time and really never thought about the fact that I was a kid. In fact, I wasn’t as young as I looked in those days and felt mature because I was working with adults all the time.”
