Call Me Kevin
Throughout this article, you’ve come to know the lead character as Chuck Connors, but surprisingly, that wasn’t his given name. In reality, he was formally known as Kevin Joseph Conners. Born in 1921, he grew up in the challenging backdrop of Brooklyn, New York, during the throes of The Great Depression. Alongside his parents and his sister, Gloria, Connors’ family managed to navigate these trying times without succumbing to the extreme poverty that afflicted many others.
It was during his formative years that he encountered an influential figure in the form of his sports coach, John Flynn, who instilled in him the value of hard work and determination—a lesson that likely paved the way for his sporting achievements and, later, his acting achievements.
