Let’s get real about a few things: you can be happy and single, you can enjoy life as a single human, and you can be perfectly content with how things are going even if it’s just you at the end of the day. Way too often people that are single are portrayed as lonely and bored, but that is simply not the case, so today we’re talking about what it means to date yourself and how to do so.
Why Should You Date Yourself?

To fall in love with yourself, and embrace all that is you.
Dating yourself is a form of self-care and can’t we all use more of that?
To become more confident and independent.
Uhm, because it’s just fun! Dating yourself means that you get to decide what to do, what to wear, etc.
Because when you have a great relationship with yourself, you can then build great relationships with other people.
There is absolutely no risk of getting hurt. You, above all people, should know how to treat yourself.
Okay, But How?

For starters, pick a night to go out. We like to go out early in the week because when the weekend rolls around, we like to have quiet, at-home date nights.
While you’re out, put the phone down. We don’t care if you pull a book out, or simply people watch, but one thing you’re not about to do on your date: waste it being on social media.
Whether you’re at a restaurant for a bite to eat or at a bar for a quick cocktail, ask your bartender or server about their favorite dishes and/or drinks. No lie, this is how we’ve discovered a number of our favorite dishes.
Get crazy with food. By this when mean, if you want a slice of chocolate cake for dessert, get it. Another glass of wine? Go ahead. Carbs? Yes, queen.

The possibilities are endless, and it really just depends on what you’re in the mood for. Here are a few of our personal favorite date night ideas!
Coffee Shop and Book Date: This can go a few different ways, but our personal favorite way to execute this date is by starting at the bookstore and nabbing a title you’ve been dying to read. After walking up and down the aisles a number of times, make your purchase, then head to your favorite coffee shop where you’ll order your favorite coffee beverage, and start getting into your new book.
Take a Class Date: Whether it’s cooking, pottery, dancing, or basketweaving, sign up for a class, get a little dressed up, and go learn something new.
Night at the Museum: You’ll start your night at your favorite restaurant, eating your favorite dish for dinner, then you’ll head to your favorite museum. (And probably stop for some ice cream after!)
