No matter how many countless hours you spend planning your family vacay, you know all too well that the worry about everything running smoothly will still be there. Vacations are supposed to be fun though, so here are a few hacks to help it all run like a well-oiled machine. (Hopefully!)
Pack for Comfort
The really awesome thing about dressing comfy in a post-Covid world is that you and the kids can still look picture-perfect (come on, you know you’ll be posting to the ‘Gram!) Think matchy sets, fun sneakers, even family shirts from the place you’re visiting paired with leggings and/or gym shorts. We promise you, everyone being in comfy clothes will change the vibes in the best way.
A packing hack: when it comes to packing suitcases for the littles, pack individual outfits in Ziploc bags so you can easily grab clothes, socks, underwear, etc. in the mornings. You can even pack pajamas like this to make bedtime easier. To make all of your clothes smell extra fresh, stick a dryer sheet in each bag.
Pre-Plan the Trip Entertainment
The main thing here is to make sure whatever the kiddos choose to take to entertain themselves is charged and that they have headphones because no headphones can make for a long trip for everybody involved. Oh, and a road trip or plane trip is not the time to limit screen time. (Hey, we don’t make the rules!) If your kiddos aren’t really into technology, consider the volume of their toys and opt for the quieter ones.
Never Be Without Gum, Candy, or a Snack
This goes for any trip you go on, ever. If you do happen to be traveling with kids consider letting them make their own snack bags so there is no complaining. This should also limit the money spent as gas stations on your journey.
Have Wipes Everywhere
In the car, in your bag, wipes are perfect to have on hand for any spills that may occur, they’re great for cleaning up after stopping at any cool parks, after a messy lunch, trust us, you’ll be glad you have them.
Research Kid-Friendly Restaurants
Only if you’re traveling with kids, of course. Knowing that a restaurant is kid-friendly means they’ll have a kids menu available and they may even have a play area where kids can run off some ‘been trapped in the car for hours’ steam.
Airbnb? Order Groceries Now.
Okay, not right now, but we definitely recommend placing a grocery order for the things you’ll need and arranging it so it will arrive on your first day. This way, you don’t have to worry about not having any food, drinks, or other necessities. This is a great hack whether you’re traveling with kids or not.
