Face Masks You Can Make at Home

March 25, 2022 by Moshe Goldyan

There is nothing we love more than coming home after a long day at work, pouring ourselves a glass of our favorite wine, putting on our comfiest pajamas, and settling in for a night of skincare and Netflix, starting with, of course, a face mask. Now, personally, we love to make our own so that we know exactly what we’re putting on our skin, so we thought we would share a few of our favorite face mask recipes with you in preparation for the weekend.

What Are the Benefits of Using Face Masks?

We’re so glad you asked! There are actually a ton of reasons we should be using face masks, but here are a few of the main reasons we love them:

Editorial content
  • Having a solid skincare routine is therapeutic.
  • Face masks moisturize and hydrate dry skin.
  • Got clogged pores? Like visibly clogged pores? A face mask can help with that!
  • If you’ve noticed your skin is a little more oily than usual, this is another issue a face mask can combat.
  • If you suffer from breakouts, certain face masks can improve the look of them drastically.

Face Mask Recipes

Another thing we love about face masks? Most of them can be made with ingredients you more than likely have sitting around your kitchen! Let’s take a look.

Banana, Yogurt, and Honey. Banana is great for your skin because it’s packed with vitamins. Vitamin A to fade dark spots and smooth rough skin, Vitamin B to help with dryness, Vitamin E to reduce wrinkles, and Potassium to hydrate. Mix one medium banana with ¼ cup plain yogurt, and 2 TB honey to create a mask that you’ll apply to your face and neck, leave on for about 20 minutes, then rinse off with cold water and pat your face dry.

Oatmeal. Oatmeal is soothing for your entire body and leaves your skin feeling so soft and so fresh. To create an oatmeal face mask you’ll combine ½ cup hot water and ⅓ cup oatmeal, and let this settle for a couple of minutes. Once it’s settled you’ll add 2 TB plain yogurt, 2 TB honey, and one small egg white. Mix all of these ingredients together and apply mask to your face, let it sit for 10 – 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water.

Strawberry Yogurt. Yeah, we know, (and agree!) this sounds delicious, but it’s also great for your skin! All you have to do is mash a handful of strawberries with 3 TB of ground almonds, then add in 2 TB of yogurt, and mix until pasty. Apply this mixture to your face, and rinse.
