We are huge fans of boards. Our obsession definitely started with a classic cheese board, then we graduated to themed boards like breakfast waffle boards, fajita boards, and dessert boards. But our most recent board obsession? Butter boards. Let’s not waste any more precious time and get right into it.
What Even IS a Butter Board?
A butter board is simply a charcuterie board used only to display a compound butter for guests (or yourself) to dig into with warm bread. Creating a butter board is simple because all you have to do is use a butter knife to create the base layer of butter then sprinkle your favorite seasonings on top to give it a little pizazz.

Butter Board Tips
When it comes to the star of the show here (the butter) you can use your favorite brand of plain butter or you can make your very own compound butter. You simply can’t go wrong with butter.
No matter what toppings you plan on using, always sprinkle your butter with a little salt and a citrus zest. This will make the flavor(s) explode.
You can’t go wrong with toppings so pile on your favorite herbs and vegetables, just make sure anything you add is cut small enough to be scooped onto warm bread and not become overpowering.
If you love the combination of sweet and savory, give your butter board a little honey drizzle. If you’re feeling extra, make it honey sriracha.
Edible flowers add color and interest to a butter board, and you can nab these online. Plus you’ll have extras left over for cookies or focaccia bread!
