#18: The Zorros
Is it just us, or does this next one seem rather counter-intuitive? ‘The Zorros’ is a term from the past that referred to nerves or anxiety. Originating in American slang during the mid-20th century, ‘the Zorro’ drew an association between the iconic masked character Zorro and the feeling of nervousness or tension.

The term captured the idea of feeling on edge or apprehensive, as if one were constantly being pursued or under pressure, akin to the swashbuckling hero navigating dangerous situations. Next time we’re feeling nervous or anxious, we might say, “We have the Zorros!”.
