Up Your Hot Cocoa Game With These Hot Cocoa Bombs

December 13, 2021 by Okumura Yuka

During the winter months, we crave one thing and one thing only: a whole lot of hot cocoa. Now, we have a lot of opinions on hot chocolate, but one thing we know for sure, we love that hot cocoa bombs have become a thing in recent years. And why overpay when you could make these from the comfort of your home? Plus, these cocoa bombs make great gifts! We’ve got a few delicious hot cocoa bomb recipes we’d like to share with you today, plus a few tips for creating hot cocoa bomb perfection. Let’s get started!

Insert record scratch, we all know what hot cocoa bombs are, right? Okay, if not, we’re excited to turn you on to these! Hot cocoa bombs are balls of chocolate that are filled with even more goodness such as marshmallows, sprinkles, candy pieces, you name it! You simply drop this into your hot cocoa, it melts, and you’ve kicked up your hot cocoa game something strong. Okay, on to materials you’ll need for most hot cocoa bomb recipes.

Materials needed:

Editorial content
  • Silicone sphere molds
  • Instant kitchen thermometer
  • Prep gloves
  • Food scale
  • Rubber spatula
  • Small baking sheet
  • Cupcake liners (optional, but they’ll make things easier!)

Raspberry Hot Cocoa Bomb

Not only are these hot cocoa bombs really pretty with the pink drizzle and sugar sprinkles (making these super giftable!), but the hint of raspberry from the raspberry cocoa in the bombs, is absolutely delicious! Get the recipe here.

White Chocolate Bombs

We are huge fans of white chocolate hot chocolate and these bombs are, well, bomb. If you’re making these for Christmastime, we recommend topping these guys off with red and green Christmas sprinkles to make them a bit more festive. Get the recipe here.

Peanut Butter Hot Cocoa Bomb

Let’s see so far we’ve shared a recipe for a hot cocoa bomb with a hint of raspberry, then white chocolate, and now it’s time for another favorite flavor, peanut butter chocolate. These peanut butter chocolate hot cocoa bombs have peanut butter morsels, hot cocoa, marshmallows, even crushed-up peanut butter cups on top, so the flavor is phenomenal. We highly recommend dropping one of these bombs into a steaming cup of white hot cocoa. You can thank us later. Get the recipe here.

Marbled Mocha Hot Cocoa Bomb

To really complete this recipe list of our favorite flavors, we can’t leave out mocha. The only difference in these hot cocoa bombs is they feature a little bit of espresso and it really kicks up the flavor. You can’t go wrong with any of these hot cocoa bomb recipes for gifts or as a treat to yourself! We also love the idea of making these a really nice addition to any hot cocoa bar. Get the recipe here.
