Measuring a Movie

Think about it, when a movie used to be made, it was printed on film frame by frame, and that film was measured in feet. Therefore, when you were discussing how long a movie was, you would use the word footage. Although this term is terribly outdated, it’s unlikely it will be changed anytime soon.
