Secret Keepers
This person had a significant moment of her own when she was in high school. She had always been kind of a loner and was considered to be one of the “smart kids” at her school. We all remember what high school cliques are like, right? Socializing with someone outside your clique was a rare event.
Our storyteller was paired to go to the counselor office with one of the popular girls, with whom she had nothing in common. The popular girl felt so embarrassed to have her low score revealed to one of the smartest kids in the class, so she asked our storyteller if she’d lie for her. They agreed to say that the popular girl got a score of 18, like our storyteller. This moment always stuck out to our storyteller because it revealed more about the popular girl than her ACT score.
