Did you know that “hard water” is just ice? One student was asked to give a brief explanation of “the meaning of the term ‘hard water.’” Hard water is defined as “water that has high mineral content.” Naturally, this kid offered a much simpler explanation: ice. Well, it’s incorrect from this term’s standpoint, but is it really?

Hard water really is just ice. Ice really is just hard water. We’d give this child an A for effort. The response followed the directions – a short and sweet description of hard water. Water that’s frozen becomes ice. Bing, bang, boom. Ah, kids. Their brains operate on a different, more intriguing frequency than ours.
