Well of course a pound of feathers weighs less than a pound of steel; that’s exactly how science works! Sounds like this teacher fell for the age-old trick question and then imparted this false knowledge to their students. In the lesson of mass versus weight, this is definitely the perfect example.

I would absolutely love to see what a pound of feathers looks like, though. Given how light they are, you must need so many to reach even just a pound. It would look pretty funny seeing actual steel and feathers of the same weight on a scale, just for the mental image.
