Summertime and the Skin Care is Necessary

April 5, 2022 by Elizabeth Grillo

As we transition from winter to summer, our fashion isn’t the only thing that changes; our skincare routine probably needs some tweaking as well. In the winter, or the dryer months rather, we tend to gravitate toward products that moisten and protect our skin against harsh winter winds, but during the summertime, we need protection against harsh rays more than anything. So let’s take a look at some summer skincare tips so we can all be prepared!

When shopping for a new cleanser, make sure that during the summertime you opt for a gentle cleanser. Gentle cleansers won’t strip the skin of its natural moisture, but they also get down deep to break up all of the makeup, debris, grime, and heavy SPF. And while we’re on the topic, we all tend to pack on the SPF during the summer, and if you’re like us, it’s not unusual to notice breakouts, but cleansing your skin to remove all of the SPF will help with this, and if you have to cleanse more than once, then so be it.

We’re not done talking about SPF just yet, because we can’t stress enough just how important it is to wear sunscreen during the summer. We don’t recommend leaving home without that 30+ SPF to protect that beautiful exposed skin of yours. Don’t forget your hands, feet, ears, and lips while you’re at it! It’s okay if finding just the right sunscreen for you takes a little trial and error, it’s so worth it in the end.

Who doesn’t love a healthy summer glow? We certainly do, and we would be lost without face oil. The really awesome thing about face oil is that it contains a ton of antioxidants making it the perfect product for damaged skin. Aside from being great for hydration and repairing damage, face oil works with your natural oil glands to create a healthy balance.

During the summertime, it’s best if you slowly increase the amount you are exfoliating your skin, especially if you have naturally oily skin. Now, we aren’t saying exfoliate every day, but adding an extra exfoliating day to your routine is a great idea.

Have you ever spent all day in the sunshine, feeling incredible, we might add, just to notice later that your skin is absolutely wrecked? This could look like a breakout, redness, maybe even just extreme dryness, but no matter what this may look like, after sun care will rock your world. After-sun care looks like a soothing or calming gel or cream that you can apply after you’ve been in the sun and it does just that, soothes and calms your skin when it needs it.
