#12: The Reality of Recycling
We’ve all seen them – the recycling bins with multiple holes for different types of waste. The green hole for paper, the blue hole for plastic, the yellow hole for metal – it’s like a rainbow of garbage sorting. We dutifully sort our waste, feeling like we’re doing our part to save the planet. But then, we find out that it all goes into the same bag anyway.
It’s like sorting your laundry by color, only to find that everything gets washed together. We might as well have just thrown everything in the regular trash can to begin with. Maybe it’s time for these recycling bins to come clean and just give us one hole for all waste. Or, we can just embrace the irony and pretend that our sorting efforts are making a difference, even if they’re not.
