Growing up with siblings is a very formative experience. Your place in the family is heavily defined by whether you are the youngest, or the oldest sibling, whether you like it or not. Unfortunately, all the younger siblings would be the ones to pick up all the slack that their older siblings left behind for them.

It might not be the nicest thing, but language, in general, has an awful lot to do with how we perceive certain things. But by this sister stating to her brother that he could have “the rest,” it certainly does make it sound as though she was being a good sister as opposed to giving him less.
