#17: Road Safety
This next piece of advice comes from a truck driver who spent enough time on the road to learn the ins and outs of safe driving, especially when a truck is involved. Truckers don’t leave big gaps in front of themselves in traffic solely out of kindness; it’s a matter of safety and necessity. Trucks, due to their size and weight, require significantly more distance to come to a complete stop, even with powerful air brakes.
Leaving space between their truck and the vehicle ahead allows them to have ample reaction time to sudden stops or emergencies, reducing the risk of rear-end collisions. This practice is not only a prudent safety measure but also a professional responsibility for truck drivers, ensuring the safety of themselves, other motorists, and the valuable cargo they transport on the roads.
