We are big fans of dessert. Like, really big fans. But baking can be tedious and time-consuming and don’t even get us started on the clean-up. And if those things tend to be turn-offs for you too, then we present to you: dump cakes! Okay, we get how the name is off-putting, but think of a hot, fresh cobbler, only better. Today we’ll be sharing our favorite dump cake recipes with you for the next time you need to make a dessert for a gathering, dessert for the family, or for eating out of the pan at 3 AM. We don’t judge.
Before we get to the recipes, let’s talk about a few of the advantages of dump cakes versus everything else.
First of all, the crust is simply cake mix and butter. We find this so much more delightful than a thick, flaky, sometimes dry cobbler or pie crust.
Dump cakes are way easy to make and don’t involve any measuring. Just dumping!
How does little to no hassle and clean-up sound? Too good to be true, right?
You can always dress dump cakes up a little bit if you need to! For instance, you can serve a hot heaping pile of peach dump cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, then drizzle a little caramel over that, and top it off with some toasted pecans! And while that sounds heavenly, cold peach dump cake eaten right out of the pan is just as satisfying.
Let’s talk recipes!
Oreo Dump Cake
This is a dump cake for all of you chocoholics out there, and better yet, this one is full of Oreo goodness. If you aren’t a fan of the classic Oreo, you can always opt for the Golden variety and white or butter cake, we promise you the end result is delicious either way. This dump cake does require a few more ingredients than most, but again, so worth it. If you need this in your life, get the recipe here!
Caramel Apple Dump Cake
When fall hits, we want all of the fall-flavored desserts and luckily, there are many dump cakes for that. One of our personal favorites is this caramel apple dump cake. This dump cake combines apples, cinnamon, toasted pecans, and gooey caramel to create an easy and crazy good fall dessert. This dump cake is best served with vanilla ice cream, extra caramel drizzle, and a few extra pecans on top. Get the recipe here!
Blueberry Dump Cake
If chocolate isn’t really your thing, and you can take or leave fall flavors, maybe berries are your style! Blueberry pie filling, yellow cake mix, coconut flakes, and so much butter. We love to let this dessert cool, then make a trifle situation out of layers of blueberry dump cake and Cool Whip, then top it off with some fresh blueberries. You can thank us later.
