Home Decor Pieces You Should Be Buying at the Thrift Store

June 13, 2022 by Julia Fuks

We are firm believers in your home being your safe haven, and we also believe that part of your home living up to that expectation involves the decor is just how you like it. Now, some of us are maximalists and we want every nook and cranny to have a little something about it, while some of us are minimalists and don’t believe in extra stuff just sitting around, some of us dig boho vibes, some of us are cozier comfy chic, some of us are going for more of a French rustic farmhouse look, and well, you get it, we all like different things when it comes to our home decor. One thing we can all agree on though? There are just certain pieces you should be buying from the thrift store.

Lamps

Not only are lamps a dime a dozen at any given thrift store, but they’re really easy to paint over if the color just isn’t working for you, but the shape is.

Picture Frames

No matter what style you’re going for, we’re willing to bet there are some photos or prints that could go into a frame and be hung on your walls to complete the look you’re going for. We recommend nabbing picture frames at thrift stores where you’ll find everything from natural wood to gold ornate.

Figurines

Whether you’re on the lookout for flowers, shapes, birds, or anything in between, you’re pretty much guaranteed to find them at a thrift store. From here you can paint them to make bookends or to add dimension to a number of shelves or tabletops in your casa.

Vases

We aren’t talking about the vases everybody gets from the floral shop, we mean a good vintage crystal or vintage hobnail milk glass vase that will add some real character to your space.

Vintage Luggage

Vintage luggage can be a fun way to add decor to your space while also using it as a little bonus storage. Extra books? Extra sweaters? Anything seasonal? Throw them in a vintage suitcase until you need them and in the meantime, enjoy the color and dimension vintage luggage can add to a room.

Dishes

Seriously, thrift stores are THE stores to nab cool vintage glasses in every color, the best coffee mugs, sets of matching dishes, and especially mismatched eclectic dishes, if that’s your thing! It’s also important to note that dishes can double as art in the form of a gallery wall or just a way to liven up any shelving.
