With a new year comes all kinds of new trend predictions, but the one set of trend predictions that takes the cake for us is the food trends. Food trends aren’t just about what we eat, they also include trends that will affect how we cook, what we cook, and how we eat at restaurants. Let’s take a look at what 2023 has in store for us.
Nostalgic Food
Turns out we’re all craving nostalgic foods from simpler times. The really awesome and tasty thing about nostalgic foods is now that we’re all getting older, our palettes have changed meaning we are now making variations of the foods we once loved as children. And thanks to apps like TikTok we can see how others are doing this too. Another cool variable to consider when it comes to nostalgic foods is that what we consider nostalgic totally varies. We can’t wait to see what’s to come of our once-favorite foods in 2023.
The Rise of Instant Foods
The way we buy foods and cleaning products is starting to change and what we mean by that is we’re seeing more and more powders and pastes. Companies are doing this to use less water and cut shipping costs and conserve water. You might have recently noticed a version of your favorite cereal that you simply add water to. While this may sound like an interesting way to eat cereal, the company is actually utilizing powdered milk, and the taste? Not bad at all. We expect to see more and more instant foods as we make our way through the new year.
Get Steamy
Move over, air fryers, there’s a new kitchen appliance in town. 2023 is going to be all about the steam oven. Steam ovens are great little inventions that crisp the outside of your food while keeping the inside nice and fluffy just how you want it.

Dinner Party Like Restaurants
If you’re a fan of going out to eat, we hope you fancy dinner parties because that’s the vibe for 2023. Think communal tables, family-style service, and welcome drinks. We think this will open the door for some pretty rad new eateries and we can’t wait to see how this trend takes off.
Extra, Extra
Gone are the days of a less is more kind of garnish, in fact, it’s going to be all about how bougie we can make our food in the coming year. Think balsamic drizzle, edible flowers, and mini fruit bouquets. Good news for people who can’t take a bite without snapping a picture first.
