Refrigerate Your Food Outdoors
Power outages during the winter aren’t unheard of. In fact, many people around the country purchase portable generators in the fall season in preparation for blackouts in the following season. And if the power stays off for too long, all your perishable food might do that—perish.
What you probably didn’t realize is that snow is cold. And since it’s cold, you can throw your meats and dairy products on a pile of snow to keep them fresh and cool during power outages. Just make sure you retrieve your food products from the snow when the lights turn back on.
