If your ideal vacation is stepping into a time machine, then perhaps the cobblestone streets of Savannah, Georgia are calling your name. Not only is this town full of historic charm, but it really does feel like life just moves a little slower in Savannah, and couldn’t we all use a little bit of that? Let’s take a look at just a few, of the many reasons, we might add, that you should start planning a trip to Savannah, Georgia stat.

Savannah is a city with a ton of diversity, and you don’t have to go far to find it. To say that there is something for everybody here is a vast understatement. Most are familiar with the Historic District, but if that isn’t quite your scene, you can also check out the Victoria District to take in some of the most beautiful architecture you’ll ever lay your eyes on, or perhaps the trendier area which is known as the Starland District, or for the stargazers that just want to get away from it all, there’s the Moon River District.

When we say Savannah is one of the most beautiful places probably ever, we aren’t exaggerating. In fact, during the Civil War, Savannah was the only area in General Tecumsah’s path of destruction that he chose not to burn down on his March to the Sea because he was so taken with the beauty. (It’s the trees positively dripping with Spanish Moss for us!)

If you love to support local everything, then make sure you squeeze in some shopping because retail in Savannah means highlighting all of the local artists and makers. So forget the run-of-the-mill destination t-shirts, souvenirs from Savannah are much more uptown.

During the week you can enjoy a number of sightseeing tours, check out museums, and really dive into the history of your surroundings, but if you’re just jonesing for a few drinks by the weekend, Savannah offers that too. And we aren’t kidding, if you’re going on a family trip or prefer a laidback vacation, go during the week; if you’re a party animal (and clearly we are not because we used the phrase ‘party animal’) the weekend will be your time to shine.

If you’re a spooky season junkie, then you’ll definitely want to check out all of the scary things to do in Savannah. These activities range from spending the night in haunted hotels and getting a tarot card reading to taking a cemetery or hearse tour.

Do with this information what you will, but in Savannah, you can stroll the oak tree-lined cobblestone streets while sipping on a cocktail. We don’t know about you, but we’re about that life.
