One of the best trends in fitness these days is the fitness app. There is no shortage of apps available for you to reach your fitness goals, often at a fraction of the cost of a gym membership or personal trainer. Here are a couple of favorites that will cost you under $150/year:
Sweat
The Sweat app is home to founder Kayla Itsine’s high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and Kelsey Wells’ PWR strength training program, as well as workouts provided by several other instructors. On this app, you will also find yoga, Pilates & barre, and stretching exercises. You can select a workout you are interested in on a given day, or you can follow one of several programs (including a post-pregnancy program). The beauty of the Sweat app is that it specifically offers home workouts. While there is no reason to feel intimidated by the gym, it is not for everyone, so if you are looking for a fantastic alternative, look no further. If you are indeed a gym rat, you can also look to this app for guided gym workouts. If you need any sort of fitness guidance, this could be the app for you.
Aaptiv
Aaptiv has a mix of workouts to appeal to the home workout guru or the gym goer and anything in between. This app offers a treadmill, outdoor running, walking, Pilates, elliptical, indoor cycling, stair climbing, rowing, strength training, sleep, stretching, meditation, yoga, barre, and boxing options. Similar to the Sweat app, you can select an individual workout, or follow a specific program depending on your mood and fitness goals. When you fire up your workout you are also provided a swath of musical genres to choose from to give you a workout soundtrack. The appeal of Aaptiv is the variety of workouts and workout platforms. This app will keep you fit wherever you are with whatever equipment you have available to you.

Youtube
Now if $150/year is still a little intimidating, there are lots of alternatives available on YouTube. You can find a ridiculous variety of workouts with just a little searching. A word of caution: you may have a harder time validating the legitimacy of the workout/training. However, with a little due diligence, you can likely determine whether the workout is safe and effective. The best part – the only price you’ll pay is time spent watching a couple of ads!
If you are looking to get a jump start on your fitness or simply freshen up your routine, considering giving one of these options a try and you just might find the inspiration you are looking for.
