We all know that we should wait until our delicious pizza or hot chocolate has cooled down a little bit before we eat it. But sometimes, it just looks so delicious and you want it now! Have you ever been in this situation? No judgment if you have, because I am in that situation pretty much every time I eat something hot.

While you might be inclined to go lick an ice cube or something—that’s usually my go-to response—this person has another idea: swish very cold water around in your mouth. It actually makes a lot of sense if you think about it; swishing cold water means that there is always cold water moving past the burnt spot in your mouth.
